What I Wore Wednesday: A Top That's Not My Style.

Last weekend I found this square, silk blouse and thought, "Why not?  I'll try it on."  I'm not big on animal prints, but it looked pretty in it's pale peach, and airy for spring/summer.  I'm so very glad I bought it, because I've already worn in three times since Saturday. In three completely different looks.  Here's look one, I think I'll come back and show you the other looks soon.  Ingredients:

  1. Zebra swatch blouse:  Silence and Noise/$9.99

  2. Ink blot pencil skirt:  American Apparel/ $24

  3. Turquoise talisman:  F21/$6.99

  4. Patsy's platforms:  H&M/$49

  5. Golden ticket cuff:  f21/$6.99

Culture Club: Shopping Up.

Once again, this past weekend was filled with delicious food and friends. Bryan and I finally  visited the critically acclaimed Marston's for breakfast. It was drool-worthy. I had a half order of the macadamia nut pancakes and cornflake coated French toast. Oh.My.Gosh. They changed my life. Afterwards Bunnie dragged me shopping {I did NOT want to go} on Colorado. Ironically, I went home with a new sweater, headband, and silk blouse.  I can't wait to show you the goods on Wednesday.  Oh, and we went to Restoration Hardware and sat in the couch we want to buy some day.

The silliest portion of the weekend was trying to figure out what to eat on Sunday night. We had NOTHING in our cupboards. I finally came up with some make-shift Chiles Quilles accompanied with black beans and rice. It was pretty dang good, all things considered. How was your weekend?

Culture Club: Our cozy weekend.

My little family had a sweet weekend.  We worked and played.  Bryan worked on an art installation Saturday/Sunday for "MILK AND BOOKIES."  We ate tasty home cooked meals.  Snuggling transpired.  Bryan bought me a gorgeous bouquet of flowers.  We listened to the rain.  We saw LIMITLESS at the movie theater.  I read.  Soba hibernated.  It was lovely.  What did you do?

Stepping out of the food rut.

It happens to us all.  We find something that works, and we keep making it because....we know it's going to work.  Inevitably we become bored, and eventually take a personal stand against the same tired, old entrees.  I've tried two amazing recipes this weekend-and they were simple but incredibly fresh and flavorful.  Fresh ingredients are key.  My new cupboard mantra is buy less, and use what I have before it goes bad.  What did I fall in love with tonight?  I call it, "Pasta la vista."  Ingredients:

  1. Penne pasta

  2. fresh basil

  3. sliced plum tomatoes

  4. olive oil/pepper/salt to taste

What I Wore Wednesday: Platforms!!

The weather really warmed up this week.  It feels like spring.  And, I think I'm okay with that.  Usually I try to keep the heat at bay.  However, unpacking my straw hats and sun dresses sounds extremely tempting.  Oh, and yes!  I purchased my first pair of platform shoes.  I really enjoy them.  The seventies are back for spring.  So, dust off your bell bottoms and iron your A-shape skirts.  Show me what you're working with.  The ingredients:

  1. Rusty Polka Blouse/H&M/$28

  2. Denim/Urban/$34

  3. Tituba's Charms/2nd Hand/$2.99

  4. Mini Saddle Bag/Ecote/$9.99

  5. Sassafras Platforms/H&M/$49

The Easter Beagle.

Why are all of our holidays completely unorthodox? We had Chinese food for our Easter feast and watched Bryan's favorite show, "To Catch a Predator" afterward. I suggested a walk, play games or go for a drive. Nope. I was vetoed. Because nothing says Easter like trolling perverts! Regardless of the Yazzie crazy we did color eggs, watched conference and Charlie Brown's EASTER BEAGLE. I'll admit, our family time is NEVER boring and ALWAYS memorable.

Drink Up Life!

Easter is going to be lovely.
I'm looking forward to eggs, baskets,
food, sunshine, conference, snuggling
and Tom Foolery in general.
I intend on drinking up life.
Have a very Happy Easter.

Sister Play Date With Chalk.

I am a huge advocate of childlike play.
For just $1.00 I purchased some sidewalk chalk,
and experienced priceless, silly fun.
I loved my chalk flowers and owl!
Sister made a darling hopscotch,
which had us giggling like school girls.
Do yourself a huge favor;

make some time for play!

Forcing Spring.

Chateau Yazzie has become an ode to spring.
Flowers are filling every vase.
Pink frosted cupcakes tempt our guests.
Our china is begging to be utilized.
I'm ready for picnics, ferris wheels, and the beach.
Are you ready to cast off the layers?
