Made me laugh.

Great news ladies; you can get a style coordinator to assist you at Chico's.  If you don't understand the irony here, call me.

Playing with Soba.

Isn't he just scrumptious?  We had such an entertaining afternoon playing with his ball yesterday.

An OUR TOWN moment.

I've always hated that play. But I definitely had an OUR TOWN moment with my sweet heart two nights ago. When I returned home from work Bryan was furiously downloading music. {the usual.} He was still downloading two hours later. After some coercion, I convinced him to come to bed.While snuggling into the covers I started singing Kayne West for him.  I had heard one of his songs play during the downloading session. Bryan started laughing and making fun of my rendition. Then I started laughing. And we couldn't stop. It was was one of those perfect moments. I was so incredibly happy, and in love with my soul mate. In every way possible he is my partner in crime.

{This picture is circa 2009 on a road trip.  He didn't want to wear the crown, so I propped it up in front of his head to make it look like he was.  Another fit of laughter moment.}

Trail Tales: Who still uses a tape deck on their run?

On my run this morning I nearly stumbled upon a tape.  What's that?  {some younger readers might ask.}  It was the pre-cursor to the compact disc.  I run this trail three times weekly.  And I have NEVER seen this fossil prior to this run.  I can only deduce that someone went running with a tape deck within the last two days!  Then they became restless with the Maggie May tape by Rod Stewart, and changed tapes mid jog.  I can only fill in the blanks at this point, but I have to think some sort of fanny pack was involved to enable such a switch.  In all probability the tape in question, wasn't zipped in securely-thus dropping to the trail's unforgiving dirt.

Removeable Graffiti: Griffith Park Bear.

Yesterday I was driving down Los Feliz Blvd. right before it turns into Western.  I stopped at the light and did a double take at the Griffith Park Bear.  Someone knitted him Valentine's lederhosen!  I laughed out loud in the quiet of my car.  I love the creativity and innovation the denizens of my city possess.  Isn't that so cute you could die?

**For Christmas someone decorated him with a Santa hat and tinsel.  And occasionally someone will tie bright colored balloons to his paws.

Ask Ashley.

Every so often I receive a question or two in my in-box regarding topics on the blog.  Yesterday I received an inquiry for dressing a specific body type.  Here's the e-mail:

Dear Dame of The Infinite Madness,

I've started working out and
I'm not quite sure how to dress for my new body. PLEASE HELP!

Sincerely,

Mammary Mishap

P.S. This e-mail was from my heckling friend Rachel.  I hope it made you chuckle.

Who inspired H&M's Winter 2010 Mannequins?

Frizzy, red Afros are infiltrating the retailer coined as H&M all over the country.  But who inspired this wily, unkempt look?  Our raving reporter Pansy Pumpernickel knocked on every door, and searched every corner for answers.  After numerous dead ends, she finally received legitimate confirmation from the company's own visual manager, Kiki McGee.

P.P.  Kiki....May I call you Kiki?

K.M.  Certainly.

P.P.  After searching every niche and crevice in the universe, I must know.  Rather, the world must know.  Who inspired the kinky, ginger afros gracing the retail mecca known as H&M?

K.M. This is delicate information.  But, Ashley did.  Ashley Yazzie.  Her insane frizz was the inspiration for our winter 2010 mannequins.

P.P.  You don't say?  But her hair usually looks relatively tame!

K.M.  Tut, tut.  Then you've never seen Ashley right after she wakes up, or whilst enduring intense humidity, nor when she allows her locks to roam without product or constraints.

P.P.  I must confess, I am completely shocked and dismayed.

K.M.  And yet we at H&M embrace Mrs. Yazzie for her troll-like hair.  It reminds one of simpler, happier, and luckier times.

P.P.  There you have it.  The mystery has been solved.  Ashley Yazzie's crazy coils inspire retailers and buyers alike to embrace their inner, and outer Afros.

High School Cliques.

I recently discussed this phenomenon with some peers at work. Apparently my school had far more cliques than most high schools.  I thought I should jot down a few, so I can recall them when I'm an old lady.  Think about where you fit in.

  1. Curbies:  Curbies sat where else, but the curb in front of school so they could smoke.  They could also be blended in with punks/skaters/musicians.  Think Nirvana.  Some of them were high, some of them pretended to be high.  They wore band shirts, baggy jeans and skate shoes; Vans/Airwalks/Chucks.

  2. Marching Band Geeks:  They were an extremely dorky group of people.  They had to be at school to practice at 5am.  They didn't consort with non-band members.  A microcosm in this group was  the color guard.  They wanted to be in cheer, but couldn't make the cut.

  3. Popular Kids:  The females never wore the same outfit twice.  Most of them were cheerleaders and dancers.  They were thin, beautiful, and wealthy.  Some of them smoked and did cocaine to curve their appetites.  The guys:  they were star athletes, classically handsome, drove nicer cars than the principal to school, bullies, slept around with freshmen girls.  Copied people's homework and cheated on tests.

  4. Goths:  Think Marilyn Manson:  all black, eyeliner, pale make up, trench coats, chains, black lipstick, platform Hot Topic shoes.

  5. Anime Club:  Usually composed of Asian kids and peppered with a few mute white kids that hid comic books in their text books during lectures.

  6. Magic Kids:  Tragic breed of dork, they were out of shape, used inhalers, audible breathers, didn't date, and had a lunch table all to themselves to play their Magic games.  Their ring leader looked like a leprechaun.

  7. Drama Nerds:  These were the loud, obnoxious students trying to get attention.

  8. Choir Kids:  They were ALWAYS singing, wearing choir t-shirts, and hanging up posters to promote their pops concerts.

  9. GLASS club:  Gays Lesbians And Straight Supporters.  There were only three members.

  10. Stomp/Black Union:  They were socially selective, listened to Rap and performed at pep rallies.

  11. Harvard Bound:  Students constantly studying in the library and checking their class rank at the office.  They only fraternized with lesser GPA students to join clubs to look well rounded on their applications and resumes.

  12. Jocks:  Mostly dumb as stumps, permanently wearing jerseys, spiking their hair, frosting the tips.

My Best Friend: Pg. 56 of O Magazine.

How many people can say that their best friend is in a current running ad for Bank of America, in Oprah's magazine?  I can.  Amber Ford, you are my best friend, and I love you.  You look so freaking adorable.

Rude, crude, and lewd desert gifts.

Growing up in Arizona I've seen every desert tchotchke, from any given four corners gift shop. After my weekend jaunt to Phoenix, I've found that the desert has reached an all time low.  I found this 'keepsake' at a truck stop near Blythe.  It took me a few seconds to register the strategic placement of the cacti.  So gross, and yet....so humorous.

Silly Observations.

I found this poster somewhere on line and it made me giggle.  Only because I love both literary series with all my heart.  P.S. I look forward to seeing HP7 again in the theaters.

Only Los Angeles......

Spotted:  Too cool for school art gallery in West Hollywood, displaying roosters. Or were they pheasants?  Let's go with birds.  Two stuffed birds wearing dickeys, top hats, vests, pockets squares, and a crevat boasting a diamond.  What?!  Is this hot or not?  For me, the jury is still out.

Sister Play Date With Chalk.

I am a huge advocate of childlike play.
For just $1.00 I purchased some sidewalk chalk,
and experienced priceless, silly fun.
I loved my chalk flowers and owl!
Sister made a darling hopscotch,
which had us giggling like school girls.
Do yourself a huge favor;

make some time for play!

Twirl Your Mustache.

I work with the children at church, and I love it. Yesterday's lesson topic was on preparing now to be a mother or father. Each of us made a "Mustache Promise;" promising what each of us would work on today in preparation of parenthood. The kids were so excited to have their own mustache. Their comments were hilarious.

One boy that's eleven said, "What if I already have a mustache?"
{He does, so I couldn't stop laughing.}

Another girl said, "I look like Mario."
{She didn't but, her brother did. The laughter ensued.}

All Dressed Up.

Bryan purchased Soba a top hat. It is the holiday season after all. Why is this so stinking funny?

A Turn of Events.

I've been sick for a few days.
But I've had to carry on with my schedule.
Last night I went to an acting lecture till 10pm.
I was starving afterwards. I mean ravenous.
And what did I go home and pig out on?

a salad.

That truly lets you know I'm sick if I'm reaching
for leafy greens instead of chocolate for my
midnight snacks. What's your poison?

tea for two.

Last night Bunnie and I had a moonlit
indoor/outdoor tea party.
I brewed the tea and made a picnic in the
center of our living room.
We haven't had a midnight tea for 2 years,
why did we ever stop?
A tree stump stool served as our table.
A solitary candle was lit.
I pulled back all of our curtains and turned off the lights.
Bryan put on some soft music.
Lastly, I opened the screen door,
allowing the autumn chill to circle us.
Mimicking an outdoor, midnight picnic.
The moon light danced above our heads.
We sipped tea;
sugar for him,
honey for me.
We talked.
We laughed.
We kissed.
We dreamed.
Then we laid on our backs upon the blanket,
with tiny, silk blue pillows beneath our heads.
Side by side we held hands and pretended to see stars.
Maybe we did.

1st photo: taken last night.
2nd photo: taken this morning. {I didn't want to take it down, it was too much fun!}
