My big buy of the trip was a cowhide rug. I have been vying for one for two years now. Months ago I made a little list of the things I want for my home. I look at it every single day, and this weekend past I was able to check off number 2! We found this perfect auburn and white hide at the Farmington, New Mexico flea market for......$150.00. The lady selling them was from Texas and received a deal on them, so she cut us the bargain of the century. {click on photo to enlarge.}My motto for buying clothes, accessories or anything for my house is, "Don't buy anything unless it makes you physically ill to think of your life without it." Live by that rule and your instincts will bring you to all the right choices. A home should spark personal interest and act as a sanctuary and every changing muse. Also, hold out for your high aesthetic standards. I waited for the rug of my dreams rather than buying a "for now rug." Which was a strong temptation on numerous occasions. Happy designing!
