LACMA.

I had a love affair with LACMA {click for info.} yesterday. My maiden voyage to the captivating museum was completely inspiring and satisfying. To my pocket book's squealing delight, I discovered that the museum is donation only after 5pm daily!

If you are looking for something fun to do in Los Angeles this summer, make it a point to stop by the museum. The exhibits are fantastic right now. I particularly enjoyed the paintings and sculpture above, Andy Warhol's exhibition and a few other treasures that can only be seen to be understood. I will mark LACMA off of my L.A. to do list, but I dare say....I'll be frequenting this new found treasure often! Where's your favorite museum located?

Silly Heart.

On the trek home to Los Angeles, we stopped at ye olde Burger King.  I collected two crowns for us to wear, thinking we could laugh and be silly together.  Bunnie didn't think it was so funny.  In fact, he thought it was, "stupid."  Determined to make us both laugh, and document the event, I assisted Bryan with donning his crown.

I couldn't control my laughter.  This picture is typical Bryan and Ashley; me being over the top playful and silly, while Bryan pretends to be crotchety and Grumpy McGrumperson.  Let the record state that I did collect my picture, and made my hus laugh at the absurdity of the entire event, and my sardonic antics.

Ashley, Get Your Gun.

Meet Roger, he is the patriarch of Bryan's family.  Roger grew up as a farm boy and held a gun at a young age, some things never change.  His love for fire arms have been down to his son and his grandsons. And perhaps, his granddaughter-in-law?  Below is an image of the men at the local Farmington, New Mexico trap club, shooting claw pigeons; PULL!
If you look closely, you can see the bullet escaping the barrel of Bryan's gun.  Each of the men folk shot perfectly and received an "I shot 25 in a row," pin.  This is a huge deal.  Particularly for Bryan and uncle Marty who haven't been shooting for over two years.
Grandpa wanted me to try my hand at shooting.  Bryan's riffle was much too heavy for me, so I used his brother Tyler's.  After a quick tutorial, they popped in a bullet for me and told me to shoot my target.  I was trembling and had indescribable fear pulsating throughout my entire body.  I tried to remain confident in front of the watchful stares of the guys.
I just couldn't pull the trigger.  I couldn't do it.  I put the riffle down and told them, "I'm scared!"  Four men, will not take that as an acceptable answer.  I pulled the riffle up once more, looked down the barrel from my mark, and pulled the trigger.  It was frightening, but I did it!  I did five practice shots, then Tyler found a can for me to shoot.  I totally nailed it!!
My heart was still pounding and flowing with adrenaline as we packed up the guns and drove home.  Bryan and Roger were very proud of me. Heck, I was proud of myself.  I didn't know that something like that existed inside of me.  There is something very therapeutic about facing an event that I'm completely fearful of.  Have you ever faced a fear of your own?  What was it?

Pure Summer Perfection.

The Fourth in Farmington.

Our road trip to New Mexico was just what the doctor ordered.  The thirteen hour sojourn was a tad grueling driving through the night. But watching the sun come up was an enchanting pay off.
Munching veggie dogs on grandma's porch.
I can't get enough of sparklers.
Grandma joined in the fun.
The fire works were beautiful.
The photos Bryan took looked extremely cosmic.
Bryan and I had a riot spending quality time together. Thursday night we stopped in Barstow to eat at In 'N Out for supper.  We nibbled our food outdoors on the hood of our truck, while watching a violent purple-red sunset.  Our puppy ran around gleefully exploring his new surroundings.  I felt content and completely in love with the moment, my existence, and my magnificent husband.

I love simplistic moments that some how become magical. I want to remember this sweet memory forever.

Road Trip.

Bunnie and I are taking a spontaneous road trip.
We packed up the truck and Soba,
heading towards New Mexico for the holiday.

Nobody does the Fourth of July like Bryan's Family.
I can't wait to light sparklers, eat veggie burgers,
and play with my nieces/nephews/in-laws.

I hope each of you have an amazing
Independence Day!
