What I Wore Wednesday: Purple Rain T-Shirt.
Yes, I occasionally wear a t-shirt. Not often. Usually not out of the house {like today.} But occasionally. It's a rare bread of woman that looks hot in a t-shirt. I'm just not that girl. It doesn't play up my assets. But, I'm in love with Prince, and PURPLE RAIN. He's iconic. He's the soundtrack of my childhood. He makes me want to wear leather and throw a wrench into the system.

I'm thankful for kick arse music.
Last night's concert was in a league all by itself. Bunnie and I saw Blonde Redhead at the Music Box Theater in Hollywood. It was the culmination of everything delightful in one performance; incredible band, brilliant lighting design, clever set design, charming venue, and impeccable sound. At times it was almost too much to bare, because the experience was so spot on. Kazu was a siren calling her other worldly strains from an empty ocean. Amedeo went Jimmy Hendricks on us in the encore; thrashing about on the ground with his guitar. It was pure concentrate rock and roll.

Interpol.
Know this: last night's concert at the Greek Theater was dreamlike. The band was seemingly ablaze in the endless black of Griffith. Melodies rising from the earth up to the celestial bodies above. A musical offering, fit enough for Zeus himself. Interpol was such a hootenanny. That was the swiftest hour-and-a-half of my entire life. Bunnie was pleased as banana cream pie.

Culture Club: Music Festival.
Here's a couple more pictures from the FYF Music Fest. What are hipsters wearing to outdoor concert festivals these days?
- cutoff shorts rolled up to butt cheeks
- vintage summer dresses, belted, with boots
- see number 1, add a black, lace bustier
- cowboy boots
- oxfords
- head to toe black
- suspenders
- guys wearing flood chick pants
- lace up nineties boots
- lipstick, it's making a come back

Rock On.
Yesterday Bunnie and I attended the FYF Music Festival at down town Los Angeles. We had a fab time listening to great music and visiting with our friends Court and Rachel...and apparently the dude in the jersey standing behind us. It was brutal hot yesterday, and I was grateful for the frozen lemon chiller that cooled me down: tart, frozen and refreshing. Come to think of it, that describes much of the acts we listened to as well.

Most Rentable: Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist.
If you have a Blue Ray, you've probably noticed that the rental section for said machine is nil. Out of pure desperation I rented this number. I'm so very glad that I did....
Teenage heartbreak looms over our male protagonist Nick. He, an indie kid from New York, loves music almost as much as the girl Trist {his heart breaker.} To soothe his broken soul, Nick prepares Trist lovingly mixed tapes. Trist discards the rad mixes scoffing at his pathetic ways. Enter Norah. She plucks up the mixed c.d.s. Without ever seeing Nick, she feels she's found her musical soul mate. Rent it. Laugh. Enjoy the rad music and strong supporting characters. {images via fanpop & imdb}

Music Wins.
Last night husband and I saw The Dead Weather play an amazing spectacle at The Palladium. Allison Mossart was outrageous. She has more sass in one strand of her wily hair, than most rockers have throughout their entire careers. Loves. {pronounced with a Bostonian accent

Pop Icon meets Soda Pop.
.jpg)
Saturday was sort of thrilling. The Smashing Pumpkins held a secret show on Record Day. The show was held at Space 1520. And being part of the Urban Outfitter's family, we were put on "the list." Thanks again Melissa! I've never seen the Pumpkins before. Well, it's more like Billy and company now, but you get the gist. They were completely spot on musically. And Mr. Corgan, is so very bald, funny, tall, and an amazing vocalist and guitarist.After the show we went to Unami Burger and sipped some adorable bottled soda pops. Several fans were there as well as the band's friends and family. I saw Billy walk into the restaurant and hissed, "Everyone act normal!" As soon as I said that, we all became unnaturally rigid and too, too quiet. Ha! While watching the band and enjoying a perfect Los Angeles day, I had one of those {I can't believe this is my life} moments. Do you ever have those?

The Gig.

Husband played a gig with his band two weeks ago.
They played at the charming Silverlake Lounge.
The lights sparkling above their heads read,
"SALVATION."
I loved that.
I couldn't keep my eyes off of Bryan.
Can you blame me?
I've literally had a crush on him since I was 15.

Friends Just Know.

I have an amazing friend in my life, Ms. Janine Suzanne. I'm most recently grateful to Janine for pushing me to listen to Bob Marley. Between her suggestion and the chefs at work screaming "One Love," at midnight I too fell in love with Bob. Sometimes our best friends know us better than we know ourselves.
P.S. The above picture is from Janine's wedding. {I'm sure you deduced that.} But, fun fact you didn't know; I did her hair and make-up! She looked so beautiful.

Musical Myths Debunked.
Bunnie subscribes to SPIN magazine: basically it's for musicians. This month's SPIN debunked some popular musical myths. One cleared myth shattered life as I've known it;
This is Mike D from the Beastie Boys:

This is Dustin Diamond
aka Samuel "Screech" Powers from Saved By The Bell:

Contrary to popular belief, they are NOT brothers!
I remain completely upset by this development.
I feel as if the proverbial rug has been pulled out from under me.
I have believed this factoid since middle school.
Did you know the truth? Are you upset?

A Scoop of Thom Yorke.

Weekend Roundup:- mom and sister came to town. {sister started FIDM L.A.}
- mom and I haunted Farmer's Market, lovely shops & brunched.
- we watched inspiring words on the telly.
- mom+bunnie+me went to SCOOPS click {here.} an amazing, unorthodox L.A. ice creamery. I had pistachio fig and mocha molasses. It was odd, but sensational.
- bunnie painstakingly scored 2 tickets for us to see Thom Yorke at the Orpheum Theatre {he's the voice behind RADIOHEAD} The event was magical, Bryan couldn't stop smiling. Thom Yorke is so incredibly talented. I shall never forget how he bunny hopped all the way across the stage. Lovely. Now we are ready to see RADIOHEAD. A band on my list to see before I die. {Prince is also on this list!}
